Viusual Critique Assignment
The Visual Critique Assignment source details an assignment where I selected an educational infographic titled "Where to Find the Joy in Teaching". This infographic, part of a weekly catalog for teachers at Sycamore High School, aimed to encourage teachers experiencing burnout and promote a book study. The critique involved analyzing the infographic's format, use of color, illustrations, and font, noting its strengths in clear formatting, eye-catching colors, purposeful illustrations, and readable font.
I also identified potential improvements, suggesting the infographic lacked a specific call to action or testimonials, and could have benefited from including data on teacher satisfaction. As part of the assignment, the author presented two modified versions of the infographic. The first modification bolded key words in the body paragraphs to make them stand out. The second modification added reflection questions at the end of each bullet point to encourage engagement. The goal of both modifications was to enhance the visual's effectiveness by emphasizing key information and encouraging active engagement, aligning with the idea of prioritizing communication functions of visuals.
