Infographics Design Planning
Topic - My topic will be about the impact of Social Media on Political Polarization. My goal with this topic will be to express and describe how social media has played a role in a diaspora from centrist political views to two collections of extreme viewpoints.
Research Plan -
I will be using a Pew Research Study that looked at what opinions are expressed by people who use social media as their primary news source.

I also have an academic article that discusses the ability of the social media’s filter to provide content and the role that plays in polarization.
A report from an official social media literacy organization that describes the difficulty in distinguishing credible news sources and misinformation.

Design Plan - The infographic will have multiple sections that include a multitude of visuals. Some of the visuals that will be on the graphic will be charts showing the increase of social media for news. I can also have maps that illustrate the dispersion towards extreme viewpoints politically. I also plan to use multiple icons or examples.
Tools and Techniques - The tools used will be a consistent typography, a visual hierarchy of how the reader should navigate the graphic. I will likely use Canva as that is the graphic device I’m most familiar with.
